I came to CMU in the fall of 2005 and right off the bat I was thrown into a group of four grad students as the lone HCI representitive. Our task was to redesign the datebook/planner application for a Palm Pilot. I think we came up with some interesting ideas, but more useful for me was the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary team for the first time. It's not easy, but working with people who think in completely different ways has been the most rewarding part of my CMU experience by far.
